Title 24, Part 6 is the new steep-slope roofing code from the California Building Energy Efficiency Standard. Its purpose is to reduce peak energy consumption in California — particularly the kind that contributes to rolling blackouts. Beginning in August 2009, Title 24, Part 6 regulations prescribe Cool Roof options for steep-slope new construction or re-roofs in defined climate zones in California.
Who's affected?
Residential and non-residential steep-slope roofs in select climate zones in the state of California will need to meet Title 24, Part 6 regulations starting in August 2009. An easy way to meet these requirements is to install a Cool Roof using Duration® Premium Cool shingles.
